WiTricity is the latest innovation in modern technological enhancements. This technology is thought to revolutionize the way we use our electrical equipments. The technology was discovered some 100 years ago but at that time people were not aware of its practical feasibility.
But now in the present age we are living in an electronic world and there are a dozen electronic gadgets all around us. All of these gadgets run on electricity most of them require wires and some require portable batteries which still require chargers. So without wires in our lives electronic gadget would be useless.
But WiTricity Corporation is confident that experiments in this present technology can change the way we run our electronic gadgets. If this technology is successful on commercial scale we might not even need any wires to run our gadgets.
The WiTricity is based on the electromagnetic coupling of two coils that are placed near from each other. The resultant electromagnetic coupling produces resonant field that can be matched with a coil in a device nearby inducing a current in it.
The process is similar to what occurs in transformers but in transformers the coils are mounted on each other. This phenomenon was demonstrated at the TED Global Conference held at Oxford in July 2009. In this demonstration 3 different mobiles where shown to work using WiTricity.
