Sharp Develops A New Anti-Bird Flu Air Purifier

August 27th 2008 19:37
Sharp is one of the leading players in the electronics market. we have long used many of the products of the sharp brand. Its products serve the very purpose of all the household needs. But sharp has recently entered into a new venture which is its fight against the deadly bird flu virus.

We all know and have heard about the deadly virus which lead to the killing of million if chicken to protect the asian countires despite that some of the humans also contracted the deadly virus of which some even died. The deadly H5N1 strain of the bird flu was the greatest fear of the scientists and doctors but good news for all the asians because sharp has taken over things and is soon going to launch it new bird flu purifier. Alhough a similar thing had been launched recently but in 2005 by sharp itself but it was a bit less efficient in eliminating the virus in the atmosphere.

The latest device was tested and it was reported that it eliminated 99.9 % of all the H5N1 virus when airborne, only with in ten minutes.

The plasmacluster ion technology, developed in 2000, is the key to this new thing it disables airborne micro-organisms by releasing positive and negative ions into the air.

Direct contact with infected poultry, or surfaces contaminated by their faeces, is currently considered the main cause of human infection with the H5N1 virus, according to the World Health Organization.

During the tests, the H5N1 virus was sprayed in a one-cubic metre (1.3-cubic yard) box with a concentration of 50,000 ions per cubic centimetre.

After which samples were then taken 10 minutes later and injected into cell cultures.
The H5N1 strain of bird flu has killed more than 240 people worldwide since late 2003, according to the World Health Organization and was really a problem until this new technology played it's part.

The Plasmacluster technology can be installed in air conditioners, dehumidifiers and air purifiers for home and industrial use, although Sharp gave no indication of when the latest technology might be used commercially.
