Samsung N-Series,Full-HD LCD Television

August 10th 2008 10:16

When it was launched last year, the M8 series was a stunning piece of equipment by Samsung, whether you looked at it from the front or the back. The all-round piano finish that shimmered, with a luxurious glossy treatment extending to even the swivel stand, everything about the M8 from the design to the picture quality was literally perfect.

The spanking new Samsung LA46N81BX is, simply put, a very good example of a modern beauty in her finest hours. She is tastefully dressed from head to toe in shimmering black and encased in a smooth streamlined chassis, exuding class and elegance that can easily rival many other pricier models.

The widescreen Aspect Ratio HD-Grade 1920 (H) x 1080 (V) pixel resolution gives high resolution pixel density with built-in image scalars to handle inputs from a variety of digital and analogue audio/video sources. The picture quality is one of the best you will find in this class.

The panel also comes with SRS TruSurround XT™. TruSurround is a patented SRS technology that solves the problem of playing 5.1 multichannel content over two speakers. TruSurround delivers a compelling, virtual surround sound experience through any two-speaker playback system, including internal television speakers and headphones. It is fully compatible with all multichannel formats up to 5.1 channels. The stereo broadcast reception with the hidden built-in speakers with 10 Watts x 2 Audio power enhances acoustic performance.

Samsung has gone all out on this TV and you will find even a third HDMI 1.3 terminal on the left of this sleek 114mm-thick TV. Taking the dual sets of component-video sockets into consideration, we are now talking about a whopping five 1080p50/60-ready inputs for HD duty. The former digital jack have the added advantage of Anynet (HDMI-CEC) for one remote operation for all compatible boxes and xvYCC wide colour gamut support for richer hues.

Samsung is also breaking new ground as far as the software menu is concerned. Nested in the submenus is a suite of advanced video settings that are identical to the high-end M8.

The only thing lacking in this TV, which was one of the best features of the M8 is the 15,000:1 Contrast Ratio. This one has a 10,000:1 ratio; however, it would be suitable for all purposes nevertheless.

Conclusion:
If you are looking for an even prettier panel than the well-received Toshiba series or even some of the equivalent Sony Bravia LCD TVs, Samsung may just be the perfect solution for you.

Overall:
It is a TV inspired from Art. Few people would want for more.
