Oxygen sensor, as the name implies is a clever high-tech device which can measure the amount of oxygen in a sample or some area. This is a wonderful diagnostic device and can sense any oxygen proportions without any hassle.
The device employs a Zirconia ceramic along with a coating of platinum to measure the proportion of oxygen in a given sample. There are obviously important and have a wide range of applications. Oxygen is certainly one of the most important commodity much needed for our survival and a part from respiratory purposes, we need oxygen in a variety of applications.
The most important place where such type of oxygen sensors are used is the combustion engine where proportions of oxygen are tested to make sure the right amount of oxygen is reaching the cylinders.
Divers also use this device to check their oxygen levels while under water. In medical application doctors use it to make sure the respiratory devices or inhalers have the right amount of oxygen.
Oxygen sensors are not just limited to the typical Zirconia galvanic sensors rather there are many types of oxygen sensors each having their own principles of working. But it depends on the application to judge which type of sensor can be used where and when.
