Koobface is the latest virus that has attacked the internet. Social networking websites like facebook and myspace have been the main victims of this new threat. The virus is related to the social networking phenomenon and is classified as a worm rather than a virus.
These has been recently a lot of trouble due to this new koobface thing. This little worm can send automated email responses to you facebook or myspace profile and ask you to click on some links in a very tempting manner. Since the messages that appear in the email appear to be from facebook, the user is tricked and when he clicks on the link it tells you to download a certain video codec.
Now here is where the real threat arises. If you download this thing than you have opened the way of constant malware to be downloaded own your PC automatically.
How To Remove the Koobface Virus?
There is a lot of stuff on the internet which tells how to remove this worm but what I have seen is that, it is very difficult to find some genuine place to remove this virus. The best method to remove this thing is to use a spyware or malware terminator. Now I know that these things don't come for free and most of them ask you to buy their products to remove it.
There are also a number of free Spyware removers and "Spyware terminator" is the best that I have found. It can be easily detected and removed using this free tool.
