Autonomous Warehouse Robot System (Kiva Systems)

The Kiva systems marks a revolution in warehouse storage and delivery processes. Until now the traditional technology used for warehouse management was using completely manual approach.
Although computerized data bases are every where, but in order to fulfill an order, one still required traditional bulky and slow, forklifts or human effort. This consumes a lot of time and the process is very inefficient.
But recently the RF ID tags have allowed better maintenance of databases. The central computer always knows, where which item is and in what quantity. It can scan the item from a long range using an RF ID module.
But the problem arises of efficiently picking up the item if an order is made. An human still has to find his way. On the other hand a robot can efficiently track the right path for picking up an item and deliver it.
This paved way for autonomous forklifts that did the picking and delivering of an item efficiently without any human effort. But this system can still be slow, as the forklift has to take several rounds. And it can only be limited to pick up and drop of larger items.
The Kiva System is an all new innovation and they have made this autonomous technology very efficient by introducing mobile inventory shelves, that can move in the entire warehouse.
When an order is made, the shelf that contains the items travels all the way to the receiver, who efficiently picks up the item and transfers it to a different delivery cart. This system has simply made delivery very fast and hassle free.
