A Wheelchair is the primary mobility assistance device for the disabled and elderly people. Wheelchair comes in a variety of categories and has a wide range of flexibility options to suit the needs of a disabled person.
The most common type of wheelchair used by disabled people is the manual wheelchair. This is the one we often see, but it requires human power to move the chair.
Usually a person strong enough is capable to move the chair's wheel using his hands, however many people would need help from some other people too, for mobility.
But now technology has made things easier and now we have the elctric wheelchairs also called motorized wheelchair or electronic wheelchair. These are electrically powered and the electric motors are driven by a rechargable battery.
It doesnot require any effort to move these chairs and the only thing you have to do is use a controller pad which is on the arm rest of the the wheelchair. Modern wheelchair have variety of functions available a part from the plain mobility controls.
Such wheelchairs are now fully computerized which are designed for special people who may require some extra aid through a computer. Such chair's may also have chair flexiblity options to provide absoulte comfort.
However these chairs greatly reduce the activeness of the disabled people as no effort is required in moving them, so for people who have healthy muscles, for them using manual wheelchairs could be a good exercise, however others who don't have the abililty to us manual ones, electric wheelchair are must buy!
