Different Types Of Cranes
April 30th 2011 17:14
Every since the ancient times man has been figuring out ways to move heavy objects through long distances. They used beast of burden initially to move and lift heavy stuff.
Then came the invention of a tire, which revolutionized the history of mankind, and allowed them to not just move objects but with the aid of other simple machines like, inclined plane, helped them to lift the object to higher ground.
With the knowledge of the basic machines mankind started constructing huge buildings that still stand as a marvels of ancient architecture and engineering. The pyramids had been constructed around 4000 years ago, using these simple machines and a few more modified ones that were considered to be the earliest cranes.
Modern day cranes are combination of pulleys, levers, towers, countless movable parts and massive tires to lift and move heavy objects. They still work on the same principle. But now powered by heavy duty engines and sophisticated technology.
Some of the cranes used today include:
1. Tower Cranes
2. Mobile Cranes
3. Truck Mounted Cranes
4. Crawler Cranes
5. Loader Cranes
While there are even more types of these cranes each has the same type of basic parts but modified to the task it has to perform.
